UNIDEE IN PROGRESS 2007

The four month residency at Cittadellarte from July to October facilitates the exploration of the relationship between art and society. It promotes investigation into the methods of creative intervention and assists in realizing projects influencing responsible transformation in society.
Saturday 27 October 2007, starting at 5:00 pm., the studio of UNIDEE – University of Ideas opens to the public. The residents will present to visitors their ongoing projects and the culmination of their time at the foundation.
Since July 4th, 17 artists and researchers from all over the world have shared space, ideas, knowledge, and projects working along side the local context in their development. The experience for the residents was informed by the encounters between diverse fields from architecture to economy, visual art to music, and literature to design. In the development of group or individual projects the residents engaged a number of social issues and creative solutions. Coming from all over the world they have shared ideas, knowledge, and projects while at the same time working in the local context to develop their artistic practice.
During the months of UNIDEE, the residents had the opportunity to draw inspiration from a program of meetings focused on methodologies of intervention. The heads of the various offices of Cittadellarte which are made up of experts in economy, communication, and business led workshops and communal discussions all under the artistic direction of Michelangelo Pistoletto.

19.30: Beyond Arepa, a buffet in collaboration with the Cafeteria glocal restaurant of Cittadellarte. Polenta is transformed to Colombian bread, arepa, from Medellin to Cittadellarte (in collaboration with Juan Pablo Jimenez Carvajal with the participation of Gayle Chong Kwan)
21,30 – Auditorium: Concert SURREALISTIC LIZARDS, a project to promote music free from copyright curated by Andres Torca and the Restaurant of Cittadellarte, with the collaboration of Se.Li.Li, (Free Licence Service), a project by the Polytechnical University of Turin and Region of Piedmont to provide information in the area of ‘Free Licensing’

The 8th edition of “creativity campus” has just started in Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto. Between all the residents also a designer from Biella.

Four months of residence, seventeen young creatives, fifteen countries represented: these are the numbers of the 8th edition of UNIDEE in Residence, the international campus which every year Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto dedicates to young artists from all over the world.
From Wenesday July 4th the chosen creatives for the 2007 edition of UNIDEE in residence will be busy with the formative activity of the program, unique in its kind.
The activity of UNIDEE in residence, in fact, includes workshops, debating sessions, conferences and lessons, with the objective of training young people coming from very different cultural and creative backgrounds to the profession of activators in artistic processes of Social Responsible Transformation.
In a mood of cooperation and sharing, the creatives of UNIDEE will have the possibility to develop in Cittadellarte their projects and to participate actively at the collaborations that Cittadellarte has established in the course of the years with organizations and corporations.
The organized workshops during the 4 month of residence, also, reach the most different topics: from the free knowledge to the sustainable architecture, from the intercultural dialogue to the alternative economy, from the responsible design to creativity inner the work place. In the end, the residents have the opportunity to come in contact with the different realities of the territory and with the partners and the institutions of Cittadellarte. It is an example the Illycaffè that every year selects one of the cups created by the UNIDEE residents and it puts it in production for the Illy Cup Collection.

Between the seventeen chosen young person for the 2007 edition of UNIDEE there is, for the third consecutive year, a creative from Biella, his involvement at the residence is possible thank to the scholarship of the Provincia di Biella, dedicated to Gian Pasquale Cossu.
We are talking about Francesca Montà, the 26 years old woman graduated in interior design at the polytechnic institute of Milan and whose work experiences in the most important city of Lombardia ( with the collective Ciboh ) and in Paris ( studio 5.5 designers ) are intended to deepen the design of food and of the packaging of the food product.
